Since the year 2004, there is a introductory week for the first semestre students at the Ilmenau University of Technology. It is called "Erstiwoche" (fresher's week). It is taking place every winter semestre one week before the official start of the semestre. The young students are welcomed, they get to know the campus and their lecturers - and of course - the student life at Ilmenau. The student life in Ilmenau is closely connected with many student associations. So, the ISWI e.V. wants to welcome the "freshers", too.

The fresher's week 2009 is taking place from 5 to 10 October. We have some activities for the new students, too:

Mo, 05.10.2009 ISWI-barbecue:

From 5 pm you can find us between the houses H and I, where we have delicious Thuringian sausages, steaks and also vegetables (for the Vegetarians) for you. In preparing the food we are supported by the bi-Club, one of the student clubs on th campus. Enjoy the meal, good music by the hsf-student radio and videos from former ISWIs made by FeM.

Fr, 09.10.2009 Walking up the "Kickelhahn"

The hiking tour to "Kickelhahn" (the highest mountain around Ilmenau: 861 m) is an activity you should not miss. It is a long tradition that the first semestre students hike up that hill during their first week in Ilmenau. There is a legend, that you can only get a degree at Ilmenau (diploma, Bachelor, Master...) when you have at least once been at the top of the "Kickelhahn". That's why we want to walk up the "Kickelhahn" together. (Otherwise you wont get a degree and that would be a pity.)Als Belohnung gibt es den ersten Schein eures jungen Studentenlebens, außerdem Musik vom hsf-Studentenradio und natürlich viel Spaß beim gemeinsamen Aufstieg.

Treffpunkt ist an der Mensa bzw. am Curiebau (je nachdem, was näher für euch ist) um 15.00 Uhr.

Wed, 06.10.2010 Town-Rallye

On Wednesday afternoon we might see us during the Town-Rallye which will provide you with a totally different view on Ilmenau. The rallye will start at 3 pm. We hope that you will enjoy our little international games which will take place at the rallye-station in front of our office.

The reward for the effort is the first certificate in your life as a student, good music from the hsf -Studentenradio (the student radio) and a lot of fun.

We will meet at 3 pm at the Mensa. A second group will start at the Curie building. (Which of the two starting points you take, depends on which is closer to you.)
